First Date
It is love at first sight when Rob meets Lee online, that is, until Lee stands Rob up on their first in-person date. With everything in question, Rob must then decide if he will go home or confront Lee and fight for the relationship he has longed for.
Director's Statement:
"First Date" grew out of a desire to challenge the classic of trope of “love-at-first-sight” in the digital age. Is it as tantalizing if found online? I wanted to explore what happens to a remote connection when tested in the real world.
Rob enters the date with Lee full of optimism, convinced he’s finally found someone who cuts through the static of endless profiles and mismatched messages. When the night takes an unexpected turn, that hopefulness is pushed to its limit. Rob has to ask himself if the affection he felt in meeting Lee online was real and worth fighting for.
The film blends humor, a touch of tension, but most of all – emotional vulnerability, to explore how fragile, yet exhilarating modern, online connections can be.
