Legends of Rhye (Feature Film POC)
"Legends of Rhye" is a proof-of-concept for a feature film that explores the blurred boundaries between mythology and reality in a contemporary urban setting. The story follows Maya, a folklore researcher who discovers that the ancient legends she studies are manifesting in her city through mysterious phenomena that only she can perceive.
This proof-of-concept captures the visual language and tonal approach for the full feature, introducing the protagonist's journey as she confronts both personal skepticism and external threats. The cinematography employs a gradually shifting color palette that transitions as Maya's perception of reality evolves.
As director and co-writer, I focused on creating a grounded entry point into a world where the fantastic exists just beneath the surface of the ordinary. The POC demonstrates how the full feature will balance intimate character moments with broader mythological elements while exploring themes of cultural memory and belief.
The project is currently in development, with the proof-of-concept serving as a crucial tool for securing financing and production partners for the feature-length film.
